I love this little shop on the south side of 57th between 8th & 9th. The owner and the staff are always so friendly & treat my French Bulldog Gunther so well (he literally drags me 2 full avenues and attempts to diagonally cross the intersection to get to visit & get treats. They have a wonderful variety of raw & lightly cooked foods, and other healthy diet specific brands…They are very knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions you might have relating to the best products for whatever your fur baby might be in need of. If you live in the area please support this small business… they even set up a free picture with Santa during the holiday season!

Oh, I am up to the moon!! So happy with their services!!! They have so many options to choose from for your beloved ones and they did an amazing job to please my cats (they called the other stores to deliver it to my house in the fastest way) I did not thank you enough So here's a public THANK YOU SO MUCH for your amazing service!

I see some people are saying the prices are overpriced; however, it’s in a busy neighborhood, I think it’s expected for a small independent pet store. You most certainly go to one of the pet store that are mainstream, but you’ll have to go out of your way to find it. In the middle of shops and restaurants in the area, it’s nice to have a neighborhood pet store. I’ve been here a few times and I find it convenient. The people working there have always been welcoming and that’s why I keep going. One time I ran out of Vital dog food and they were able to get it for me the same day. It’s customer service and convenience for me that’s won me over.

Have to write a review about this place because of the nice, I believe Irish lady who works there. I went in to look for a coat for the pit bull of a homeless woman on a freezing day and her and her dog were both out in the cold on the sidewalk. I went to this store and this kind lady came to help me while I explained the situation. Before o knew it, she found a beautiful sweater for the dog and gave it to me for FREE. Her kindness and generosity won’t soon be forgetting and very much appreciated! Thank you!

Johnny the cat is the star, he is just too cute and cool especially when he is laying on the counter when you try to check out, he runs the place, he just doesn't care, "no, hooman, I am not movin" Eduardo is super nice and always helpful and another perk is you can sign up for an account with them. They are a million times better that Pitco (I mean Petco) and it is extra nice to support a small neighborhood business with a really cool cat.

We fondly call the Pet Market "Johnny's" because really, this handsome shop cat is in charge! This is a great store with friendly, knowledgable employees. Yes, the prices are higher than online mega businesses--of course they are. Online retailers aren't paying NYC rent. But, I like to combine shopping here with my online ordering, because it's essential to have a place like this in the neighborhood. They sell food by the can so you can try different flavors without investing in a case your pet may reject. And the time will come when you need something quickly and can't wait for it to be shipped. Neighborhood pet stores are essential!

One of the best overall experiences i've had with a pet store period. i've met at least 3 different workers (4 including johnny) all of whom were knowledgeable, empathetic, and asked lots of questions to make sure they were getting me and my cat the best products possible. they were willing to offer me advice that didn't spur a purchase decision, and in several instances made suggestions to save me money. i've probably visited a dozen more times than i every intended just bc they were so dedicated to helping pets over profits. now admittedly, everything there is fairly expensive. not unreasonably so by any means: not affordable, but acceptable. im happy to pay bc they offer a vet-like attention to detail and professionalism that genuinely makes me confident i'm always doing what's best for my pet.

This pet store is amazing. The staff is so incredibly kind and helpful when it comes to deciding between products. They never try to upsell you things. They give you options in a range of prices and make sure you get the best bang for your buck. They have so many food brands and toys to purchase. It’s a dogs heaven. They also give your puppies treats and have different samples to try. My #2 go to pet shop.

I always go here when I walk my dog, so she could have some "shopping" time. Johnny, the cat, is the most well-behaved cat I have ever seen. They have a membership program you can sign up for, and they offer a delivery service.

Pet market is my number one place to go. They have an incredible selection of treats as well as foods for cats and dogs. The people are fantastic so helpful and knowledgeable their pet friendly and people friendly. I can't recommend them highly enough if you need anything for your dog or cat this Is the one stop perfect shopping for all your pets

I've visited this particular store twice and both times was particularly well-served by Iris and then her male colleague. When the item(s) I was looking for was/were not in their stock, suitable alternatives were easily suggested or there was an indication that they would chat with the supplier about getting the product(s). I plucked this card from the 'welcome' packet of treats I received and felt compelled to say - Brava/o to my new neighborhood shop, thanks for reaching out so graciously, and may good fortune attend you!

Highly recommend this pet store. I visited for the first time today to find a new toy for my cat who has been having a hard time adjusting after a move. They have a great selection of cat toys, unlike the basic selection found in most chain pet stores. I brought the toy home and my cat is obsessed, I have not seen him so happy since our move. The staff was lovely. I will definitely be returning to The Pet Market!

I have a finicky cat and it's great that the Pet Market has a wide variety of high quality foods. Her tastes change, too, so I love that I can run over and pick up a few things to try. The store is always clean and well organized. When they've been out of something or if I have a special request, they've been able to get it for me. I'm so happy they are in the neighborhood. They're also very friendly and helpful.

Amazing pet store with the friendliest staff, and so many great options. They have such good advice and recommendations. Always feel like their selection is catered for actually caring for pets as opposed to other big chain pet stores.

We love shopping at Pet Market 1 (72nd between Broadway and West End)!! The staff is always so welcoming and knowledgeable. Our dog Mae never fails to pull us in to get treats after a long walk. BTW, Amy is a wonderful artist!!

Love the service at this place. Tiarah, the manager is super friendly and kind. She helped me with my new puppy’s needs. So a little update since my review….our puppy Lola got more amazing toys and treats this weekend and we were nicely supervised by the pride photo op. Tiarah now is like my adopted niece, friendly as ever. The other staff member are also super nice.

Highly recommend the Pet Market!! The staff is so kind, knowledgeable, and really goes above and beyond. there have been a couple of instances where they didn’t have a particular item in-store, and arranged to have the item delivered from their UWS location to make sure we got what we needed.

Terrific selection of pet supplies (treats, food, accessories like leashes/collars/harnesses). Helpful and knowledgeable sales staff. Our Tibetan terrier always pulls us to the door on her walks as it’s easily her favorite place in the neighborhood.

Great staff who know their dog food and can make recommendations. They also have good loyalty plans that help you save money over time. With three locations it’s easy to pop in and resupply when you need to.

The best place to get toys and treats for your dog! Everyone who works there is really friendly and they put in a lot of effort to help you find what you're looking for. Our dog, Clark, also loves getting a free treat and pets every time we visit.

I have been coming to the pet market since it opened. My dog Wyatt and i visit the shop every day. The team Duwaun the manager, Alena and Juan C are the very best. They are wonderful to both me and Wyatt as soon as we walk in. I get great advice and wouldn’t buy my doggy treats anywhere else. This is because the team is so great. No matter how busy the store is, no Matter how much they have to do, we are treated like royalty - make this team happy!

The Pet Market on the UES is fantastic! Such an asset to our neighborhood. The selection is excellent, the staff is kind, Knowledgeable and helpful, especially Duwaun! They are so nice to my doggy most importantly!

The staff here is amazing! Obviously you are going to pay a little more in a small business but the knowledge and expertise they offer more than makes up for it. We were looking for a backpack pet carrier for our rather stubborn French bull dog/Pug mix and the knowledge with which they presented our options was so super valuable. Wouldn’t have gotten that buying online. Vivian, Alena and Sebastian were so friendly and helpful. P.S. guys, we followed your instructions and Gus didn’t mind being in there at all! Such a great choice. Thank you for helping us make the city more accessible to our family of three.

Super friendly staff! They were super helpful when I was getting ready to welcome my new dog. The products are a little overpriced in my opinion but I understand that it costs a lot to run a small business especially in this neighborhood. I try to shop here when I can afford it instead of big pet stores.

Great store with a huge selection, don't be put off by it's size, they have everything you could need for your pet. The staff are also super knowledgeable about animals, particularly dogs. They can give you all kinds of recommendations and advice. Much better than shopping at like PetCo (or some other big impersonal chain) where staff have zero passion for animals.

This pet store is our go to now. We usually shop online but want to support our local businesses. It turns out, it’s even more convenient than shopping online. They have a great selection of products, very friendly and helpful staff and they can deliver same day. I’m so glad we found them!

This store has a TON of fantastic products! As our puppy continues to grow we have been able to find everything we need right here (from safe harnesses, to a variety of dog treats, to gum and ear cleaning products, to much, much more!) The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and we look forward to each visit. Thanks for being a great neighborhood gem!

This store is a great addition to the neighborhood. Much more personal service than any other pet supply shop. You’re greeted with a smile and offered assistance without any pressure. The selection of products is pretty nice. They don’t always have everything in stock and prices aren’t super competitive but the employees always have an alternative product to offer. The manager Jamie is extremely attentive to everyones needs and does his best servicing customers while also answering calls and checking people out. He is so friendly and really makes me want to continue to support this business. The only reason i’m giving 4 stars and not 5 is because sometimes it gets crowded and Jamie is forced to have people waiting for his service while he either answers the phone or works the cash register. He’s great but it would be nice to not have to wait on him because he’s alone and has to help others. Thank you Pet Market!

My dog’s favorite pet store!!! We go to the UES store, the service here is outstanding-the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. I can always find what I need, & they’re great at suggesting the perfect toy, treats, and bones for my dog’s specific breed. They even know their clients by names, which adds a personal touch. Highly recommend this store for all pet parents!! 🐾
